Since 1989, the underrepresented and underserved students in San Antonio have been given the opportunity and confidence by the San Antonio Education Partnership to experience the dream and success of attending and graduating from college. The goal of the Education Partnership is to close the college graduation gap for San Antonio by having its students graduate from high school, enroll in college, and earn a college degree and/or certificate.
The San Antonio Education Partnership, a non-profit 501(C)(3) organization, seeks an experienced professional to serve as a College Access and Success Advisor - High School-Based Services.
Organizational Commitment The College Access and Success Advisor – High School-Based Services provides individualized advising, group programming, and outreach to support high school students in preparing for and transitioning to post-secondary education. Embedded within assigned partner high schools, the Advisor works closely with students, families, school staff, and the Road to Success Program Director to increase college access, affordability, enrollment, and successful transition to college. The Advisor consistently demonstrates SAEP core values of communication, integrity, excellence, respect, innovation, and teamwork.
Duties and Responsibilities Student Advising and Support - Provide individualized advising in five core areas: goal setting, college and career exploration, college entry and enrollment, college affordability and financial aid, and college transition.
- Conduct one-on-one advising sessions to assess student goals, needs, and post-secondary plans.
- Guide students through college exploration, application, admission, and enrollment processes.
- Support students and families with financial aid processes, including FAFSA and TASFA completion, verification, and financial aid award review.
- Assist students in identifying and applying for scholarships and additional financial resources.
- Deliver college access and success workshops, presentations, and other group advising activities.
- Support graduating seniors with the transition from high school to college, including summer outreach and follow-up to reduce summer melt.
SAEP Scholarship Support - Educate students about SAEP Scholarship eligibility requirements, deadlines, and required activities.
- Support students with completion of SAEP Scholarship requirements and related documentation.
- Organize, review, and securely maintain documentation for SAEP Scholarship candidates.
- Verify student eligibility information, including grades and other required documentation, using high school records and designated data systems. Track and document student participation in required college preparation and scholarship activities.
Data, Documentation, and Reporting - Document advising sessions, student participation, outreach activities, and benchmark outcomes in designated data systems.
- Monitor, maintain, and correct student records by verifying information against source documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality and data security in compliance with FERPA, SAEP policies, and applicable school district requirements.
- Manage multiple projects and reporting deadlines; submit timely and accurate performance reports and other required documentation.
School Partnerships, Outreach, and Program Support - Serve as a liaison between SAEP and assigned partner high schools, building collaborative relationships with administrators, counselors, college and career staff, teachers, and other campus personnel.
- Coordinate with school staff to identify students for services and provide college access programming that complements existing campus initiatives.
- Conduct outreach to increase student and family awareness of college access services, financial aid resources, and scholarship opportunities.
- Coordinate with other organizations serving students on assigned campuses to maximize resources and avoid duplication of services.
- Partner with the Program Director to identify and implement data-informed strategies that strengthen program services and student outcomes.
- Support special projects, events, and initiatives that promote college access, financial aid literacy, enrollment, and successful college transitions.
- Advance SAEP’s mission by supporting cross-departmental initiatives and organizational priorities as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications Education and Experience - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, public administration, social sciences, or related field required.
- Knowledge of college advising, counseling, student support, or youth development practices and procedures.
- Experience working with high school students, families, schools, or college access programs preferred.
- Experience with data collection, performance tracking, and accountability preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Tagalog, Gujrati, or Pashto preferred but not required.
Knowledge and Skills - Knowledge of college access processes, including college and career exploration, applications, admissions, enrollment, financial aid, scholarships, and college transition supports.
- Familiarity with local higher education institutions and post-secondary opportunities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry/reporting systems; Salesforce experience preferred.
- Ability to deliver effective presentations and workshops to students, families, and school partners.

Other Requirements - Reliable personal transportation for travel to assigned high schools, SAEP offices, meetings, events, and other work-related activities.
- Valid driver’s license and current auto insurance in employee’s name required.
Working conditions - Position is primarily based at assigned San Antonio-area partner high schools, with additional work at SAEP/cafécollege, located at 131 El Paso St., San Antonio, TX 78204, as required.
- Work schedules generally follow regular business and assigned campus hours and are based on a five-day, 40-hour workweek: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
- Some evening and weekend hours may be required for student, family, school, and organizational events.
- Regular travel between assigned campuses and other program locations is required.
Physical requirements - Subject to sitting, standing, bending, twisting, and walking to perform the essential functions.
Direct Reports
Salary: $37,500 and up commensurate with experience + full time benefits to include health, dental, life, generous Paid Time Off policy, paid holidays, and 401K retirement savings plan with match.
